The FTC is a Federal Government institution who govern and make sure consumer protection laws are being followed. They are the police of any commerce or trading of products and/or services in the United States.

Better Business Bureau (www.BBB.org)
Also known as the BBB, this is a non-profit nationwide organization focusing on both local and online businesses for their fair and honest business practices. The BBB website provides complaint history for most businesses in the United States. BBB also allows consumers to file a complaint for any businesses. BBB responses and actions are known to be effective and fast. BBB sent letters to merchants who received the complaint and the merchant has to reply to your complaint. All dialogs are recorded on BBB website for other consumers to use. The most useful feature of the BBB online website is to provide statistical information about any particular store and/or merchant of how many complaints they had for a certain period of time, how many of the complaints has been replied to and how many has been resolved.

National Fraud Information Center (www.Fraud.org)
It was originally established to combat telemarketing frauds. In 1996, the Internet Fraud Watch was created, which offers consumers advice about promotions in cyberspace and route reports of suspected online and Internet fraud to the appropriate government agencies. Here you can find advice and news on Internet fraud prevention.
